random footnotes after being unplugged from social mediocrity

Today is a new day

I feel peculiar like reality is slanted.

I am moving learning all the time how things come about. I now know that there is wisdom. You just have to stay with it. The mind wants so many things. Its nature is greed. I do not want to be greedy. I WANT to be in the right frame of mind and move my life in a new style.

I found I can rap its basic but its better than its ever been. I know that now is the most important moment in your life.

IF YOU had to rewind back the clock and pick a  time then your not living your life right.

This is random literature but i never said i was regular.

I make the rules up as I go along sing my song inner voice turn it on.

All i HAVE been doing for the past few days is be in a daze.

My thoughts are a maze that need to be unbridled fiddled and played out let out.

I can let go off today. i Can GET OVER it.

Nothing happened.

I just could not function.

The room was cluttered like my brain.

I moved things in inches.

Took a nap.

I woke up and it was like a mighty slap

from somewhere.

picked my pic and my guitar

played the chords as before.

but this time

slightly better

i wetted my appetite with reading but lost pages by not focusing.

Everyone gone from this space I can feel it, feels odd.

The night is still young.

No body knows whats going on.

A girl contacted me and it was brief.

thats why it never lasted

i never had the chance to exclaim

that my old flame came back

round again

did not need to

did i feel deceitful

nope

just felt unusal.

thats all.

how many of these can i write out.

I could and can keep going.

I have no idea where the page is going

i just say whats been threaded through my

needle neurones

passing electron’s down a passage of

cells

where did our spirits come from

all of a sudden growing energy

im finding this out

while dealing with this painful economy

whilst juggling love

lord above

places things on everyones table

not all off us can eat.

I must keep reminding myself to eat.

I forget how

strange

i must eat

i must eat

oh its 9 o’clock

what did i eat today

bits of bread what ever was in the fridge.

but did i go to the fridge

i forgot there even was one.

the desire to eat gone.

i have desire many

i want to eat as many things as i can then

i have desires to read as many pages of a book

i then want to listen to an audio cd

and then i want to play guitar

or skateboard

my knees still hurt

or will they just snap

the weather has finally changed here in one foul swoop.

the change is eminent.

it had to happen

and it did

all change has to happen

are you with me chaps

i hope so

i can not hear you

i stopped

contact

why?

i just had to

where were you all when i needed you

not one

no  victim song

it was just the way the wind blew.

folks whom are privileged never know how lucky they are

peace of mind is one thing

peace of mind is everything

peace of mind helps you sleep

how much sleep do i need

i really do not like sleep

i followed

and now i must lead

what is greed if not desire in a distasteful unsavoury malice of misconstrued

nonsense fed to your brain through exposure

i want i want i need i have to have

it arrives

do i really need no

it was just a neurotic gesture

a moment of accessibility.

you were lied to.

new things come in shiny boxes

old things get packed away

but your soul is always clear

and is always there

madness is tidal waves

it comes before you have the time to get away

but i dont run from it making me all the more mad

i instead hold myself up to it and say is that all you got

oh mighty source of energy

cometh and giveth what may

i bid you fair day to do your worst and more

as i can and wilt not stray from the path

PART 10 MONEY AND VALUES GETTYS LAST BIT OF ADVICE

The most wrong conception of a poor minded person is that every millionaire has millions in ready cash.

Stored in boxes ready at his disposal. In the case of a working millionaire a wealthy individual actively engages his finance in business.

Working businessman’s fortune is ever available to him as personal cash on hand unless he chooses to go out of business and liquidates his holdings by selling them.

But the successful businessman very seldom sells out. He knows that wealth which serves no constructive purpose has no real justification for its existence.

It might be said that he views business as a CREATIVE ART. He uses his money as CAPITAL reinvesting it to create business and jobs and produce goods and services.

The successful businessman also knows that wealth does not automatically grant him a year round no limits license for fun filled frolics.

HE is well aware that money has the power to do many things bad as well as good to people. Their private lives personalities and moral and intellectual and values are something that they need to work on and enlist as something to learn to help the business.

A non conformist and a leader a role model an originator has an excellent chance to make fortunes because people look up to that individual and will want him or her to succeed.

To be truly rich regardless of his fortune or lack of it a man must live by his own values. He must raise them and increase his level of development along with the business. If those values are not personally meaningful then no amount of money gained can hide the emptiness  of life without them.

GETTY WRote this ON value SPECIFIC TO inform and give perspective.

I have known entirely too many people who spend their lives trying to be what others want them to be and doing what others expect them to do.

TheY force themselves into patterns of behaviour which have been established for and by people with personalities entirely different  from their own.

Seeking to conform to those patterns they dissolve into grotesque blurred mirror images as they obligate their individuality to imitate others.

Rootless dissatisfied they strive frantically and most often vainly to find their own identities within the constricting limits of an existence alien to their natures instincts and innate desires.

To my way of thinking status may be defined as a form of recognition an individual’s peers award him for above average contributions to society.

It is something that must be learned a reward for accomplishment that is awarded at a degree proportionate to the value or importance of what the individual contributes towards the common good.

I firmly believe that an individual who seeks financial success should be motivated by much more than merely to make money or amass material personal fortune.

I learned from my father that the astute, aggressive, progressive and truly successful businessman does not think of his work primarily in terms of profits.

The money value of my holdings in the companies I own or control have been estimated in millions but this is paper fortunes and it still a means and not an end.

Only a small amount is held to me in actual cash in my hands. My wealth is represented by machinery oil wells pipelines tankers refineries factories and office buildings.

These are worthwhile ends in terms of giving others a job and the productivity my own labouring as an experience and my wealth as a whole.

To the richest man in the world I’m the wealthiest.

I am gratified that I have managed to accomplish most of the goals I set myself and when i first started business many many years ago.

You must make your own standards your own goals and your own values.

Find out what is important to you and you can achieve it as long as you ask what are you willing to give for certain in order to get that thing.

YOU CAN NOT GET SOMETHING FOR NOTHING!

An individual always has to GIVE or GIVE UP SOMETHING IN ORDER TO HAVE OR GET SOMETHING ELSE. this is life.

The most suicidal thing a business man can begin to fail when he has given up and has felt he has reached his peak the show must go on.

Finally it has always been a contention that an individual who can be relied upon to be himself honest unto himself can be relied upon in every other way.

He places value not on PRICE but on himself and HIS principles alone.

J. PAUL GETTY.

The value of non conformity and culture GETTY PART 9

Individuals who want to prosper in business need to be cultured and have taste.

Businessman strive for perfection and it is highly unlikely that they will ever achieve it. But they need to strive for this with a high level of taste.

The public mind is dulled by radio tv bad movies at the cinema books they condition the mind.

A businessman is selling them a product he needs to be cultured or ahead in his game.

There is something obviously wrong with the society and educational system. There is a weird process of brainwashing, the public has come to believe that our school are giving a good education. No one questions the schooling system.

Never be too comfortable or complacent or dulled as your imagination is important to your business so you need to culture your mind what you take in.

This all comes back to non conformity.

Getty showed why he wanted to have a museum and why its important to study history and cultures along with art in your life.

The greatest thing a country can invest in is its culture the greatest thing a business man can educate himself on is culture.

Culture is like a fine wine that one drinks in company of a beautiful sophisticated  women it should be sipped and savoured  never gulped.

The possible impossible for business part 8 Getty rich

Good judgment and imaginative foresight are two qualities which, working together, can make the ” impossible” possible The valuable habits of healthy skepticism and individual confidence can and often do, help a determined individual refute the discouragement of the crowd.

The executive must develop the ability to rationally and knowledgeably reach decisions and then go ahead - regardless of the impossibility of his goal.

Now few things are impossible in themselves.

But a truly great businessman can distinguish between what is possible and what is impossible.

Getty was an oil driller and he says that he drilled for oil once and he believed if he kept drilling he would find more oil. He ended up spending more and more money. Eventually he realised not everything is possible.

The successful businessman is the one who makes the right choice between the possible and the impossible more often than not.

The seasoned businessman does not arrive at such decisions by haphazard guesswork. Nor does he decide one way or another because he has a hunch or a clairvoyant premonition.

A great deal of careful thought and consideration goes into resolving the problem of the possible versus what is impossible.

These are the questions you need to ask

What precisely and in detail is the situation proposition or the issue under consideration?

What is at stake what are the costs what are the minimum and maximum the company stands to gain and lose?

Are there any action that can be taken, if so can they be considered valid and applicable to the situation?

What do other parties buyers sellers brokers competitors customers etc stand to gain or lose either way?

What are the known obstacles and difficulties the company faces if it goes ahead and precisely how can they be overcome?

What other difficulties are likely to arise and if they do what resources are available and what steps maybe taken to cope with them?

Are all the facts known could there be any additional hidden pitfalls?

How long will it take to accomplish the objectives or goals in question if it is decided to proceed?

Would the company stand to gain more by devoting equal time and effort to something else?

Are the personnel who would be responsible for handling the matter fully qualified and dependable?

The veteran businessman mentally goes through this check list of questions automatically whenever there are any doubts about the practicality of a business situation.

The young executive or beginner in business would do well under such circumstances to sit down with a pencil and a piece of paper and actually list the questions and his debit and credit answers to them.

Examining the overall picture the novice is very liable to see angles and aspects flaws and strengths expedients and alternatives and potentials and pitfalls which had previously eluded him or which he had not given much thought before.

He is much like a chess player who has to stop and look at the pieces and the strategies he can use.

Like a chess player he can foresee his moves and see where he can take pieces and where he will lose pieces.

He will be able to make reasonable guesses whether to attack or to confer his advantage.

But eventually he must make a decision is it possible or impossible should you continue to play or pay or forfeit move or resign the game.

A business relys on the business man judgment when your in business its always up to you to decide.

hOw a top business man deals with CRISIS. Part 7

Getty believes that everynow and then you need a crisis to keep you on your toes. To get used to being uncomfortable so much so it becomes comfortable. It will make you unstoppable.

“ADVERSITY is the first path to truth” LORD BYRON

The notion of perfect business is an illusion. It would not be business if it was perfect.

If a Crisis arrives at your door step you have to be aggressive and imaginative like a general using military attacks or energetic counter attacks. He believed it was the  best form defense.

You might not win every battle thats the same as any general but those who master defensive strategy as an offensive have a slight advantage.

A good general surveys the situation thoroughly, reorganising his forces and brings replacements and reinforcements and makes his plans by marshalling his resources as he launches successful counter attacks on all three fronts.

A top businessman can turn adversity and calamity into victory.

The successful businessman the true business leader is the individual who develops the ability to retain his composure in times of stress and in the face of the setbacks.

The manner in which he meets the first few tight situations in the which he finds himself will often set the pattern for the rest of his career.

1. No matter what happens do not panic. The crisis should be met with calm determination.

2. It is always a wise idea to pull back temporarily- to withdraw just long enough and far enough to view and evaluate the situation objectively with all the facts in hand.

3 Give some grounded facts to sacrifice those things which are least important and most expendable.

4. Next all factors in the situation must be examined with meticulous care. Every possible course of action must be weighed. All available resources cerebral as well as financial, creative as well as practical- must be marshalled.

5. Counter moves must be calculated in the greatest care and timing.

6. Once everything is ready, action should be taken confidently, purposefully, aggressively and above all enthusiastically. There can be no hesitation and it is here that the determination, personality and energy of the leader count the most.

Personnel management and Morale Part 6

When managing employees it goes beyond a title. They are humans and you must respect this.

Getty says.

I let the men see i RESPECTED them not only for their superior experience but also as individuals;

I looked upon our association as a mutual effort, in which I assumed the financial risks  accepting the major headaches and was willing to do the share of my work aptly.

You must not give orders without a CLEAR AND CONCISE explanation.

Always ready to lend a hand on even the messiest or difficult tasks whenever a hand was needed.

Exceptional individuals inspire people so they will achieve the results that make possible the attainment of given objectives. These individuals should be rewarded on some small metric but big in appreciation.

A successful business relys on employees and business morale but an achievement of a task is much better than a weekend of drinking or morale boasting games and events.

If ever someone takes advantage of you make them cornered to accept responsibility.

One high up executive was working for Getty and took home some materials to make something for himself.

Rather than ask him did he take or why? Instead he asked him for an inventory of the materials. When he calculated the loss HE took it from his paycheck.

The Executive or no other employee ever took again from Mr GETTY.

Men want to feel that they are part of a company and are responsible for participating.

No body likes to feel left out this is how you can raise morale. Making each individual feel part of the team effort by telling them how much you value there efforts.

Where ever is possible ask an employee where he feels there is a problem or a an innovation or a change that could improve the business.

Make this a habit.

Also remember this is just an opinion.

The most powerful habit you are forming is you trust your employees judgements enough to respect him to ask what he thinks.

It is always advised in all areas of business to grin inwardly.

The thing with all people they all want to do better in life and feel better about themselves in life.

It is all give and take in business and its not always money as you would think.

Its a service and its a commitment to honour those working for you and you bringing the best out  in them.

Eventually it all arises everyone gains something and especially the business.

A man will always do better if he feels he is part of an operation men who go to war together on the same battle field after core training stick together for life. Because they were part of an operation.

THe important thing is to let the employees know they are important to the company and the business and mean it.

When morale rises Employees efficiency goes up and so does Production.

Business Blunders and making a mistake Part 5

Every Business man is going to make mistakes and the key is to learn from them and not make them again.

It is essential to evaluate and anticipate blunders as they come.

The true businessman will even make more money from the lessons made of his learnt mistakes than if he had’nt made any.

He will have the ability to survive and still make profit off them.

Even seasoned businessman are no exception to making mistakes. If you have a business there will be blunders.

Its how you deal with them that shows how successful a businessman you are.

Usually not enough knowledge on the business, lack of training, bad communication or a complete lack of business sense are the errors that are made.

These are the main ones

The first is the failure to distinguish between fact and what is opinion.

  • Opinion none the less remains an opinion.
  • Opinion is seldom reliable.
  • Opinion is never better than the information on which it is based, the qualifications of the person voicing it and his ability to correctly interpret the information at his disposal.

Businessmen are sometimes inclined to read or hear opinions and accept them as facts.

Upon which to base their plans or make their decisions without further investigations or study or researching for themselves.

Getty says you can then only blame yourself for the error of not checking and just accepting it without question as fact rather than just someones opinion.

Opinions and rumours should not influence you or your business.

There is nothing wrong with taking another persons opinion into consideration.

The problem is taking someones general advice or Opinion blindly.

You must check they are backed up by facts not just general hearsay.

Never give into fear being frightened after launching a new product or starting something different the mistake comes from cancelling everything in the early stages and gaining huge losses because of someones opinion

” It may not work or will not work.”

GETTY SAYS       “It may not work for them but you are not them.”

You must remain calm, cool, level headed extremely patience and nerves of steel.

No one said going into business was easy neither is life you have to be a man of courage.

You must carry it through to the end. IT may just need a few modifications of the original product or the procedure.

The biggest mistake a business man can make is actually not taking risks.

A seasoned business man GETTY Assures you that there is always the possibility that something completely unforeseen may turn up to wreck your plans. He is however secure in the knowledge and the power you have that can tip the odds to success because he who has done everything to even odds by calculating the worst happening has preparation in his favour.

The businessman who is able to calculate his risks and then is willing to take them, has his battles for success nine-tenths won. The remaining one-tenth is the unknown variable the unpredictable factor that puts the zest and excitement into the game.

Without that x factor business would hopelessly be dull and routine and rather uninteresting.

Most businessmen don’t have time for sleep its all hard work in the face of the storm. There’s perils, pitfalls, hurdles and walls and you have to jump climb dig and avoid but that is business.

The quality of all of this is that you will learn more than any young person out of business school they have little opportunity to learn this  style of in your face and in your hands business.

You get hands on experience to see where to save money lower costs increase production and improve your product.

Something you just can not learn in school. It takes years being out there in the field in the trenches. You get to learn the business in all operations at all levels and you grow a respect for what you are selling or manufacturing or making or distributing.

You learn about employees morale  and how to sweat and grunt alongside men on the tougher end of the job.

You learn about what really are your overheads and you need this to figure out how to lower the overheads that could be crippling the business under your nose.

You have to know the business the bottom to the top.

A young man who knows all aspects of the business is a rare bird these days.

To succeed in a business to reach the top an individual must know all there is possible to know about that business. He must be acquainted with the duties and all the responsibilities of each and every section, office and department.

He must know something and more. Accounting and production.Purchasing and sales.

This increases efficiency and product quality and reduces costs and still makes a profit and continues to gradually expand.

Another area an unseasoned businessman fails is when he relegates not delegates.

Delegating is the most important aspect of leadership and running a business it has to be administered effectively.

If he allows others to run his business without maintaining close and constant supervision over their policies and operations he is most likely to find that he has made mistakes and that he and this business are in serious trouble.

Often without the correct delegation it is all too late to do anything about it.

The worst thing about a businessman is not that he is over worked, over-strained stressed its that he is overly worried.

Health is usually responsible for alot of business mens failures they lose their sharpness and vigor.

Age is never a problem its affirmative action positive mental attitude.

Health is in all areas mental physical and spirit.

Andrew Carnegie died 84

Henry FORD was 84

John D ROCKEFELLER lived until 98

The who’s who of business men states the hardest working and most successful business men most often  the ones whom lived the longest.

The KEY IN BUSINESS as CICERO said TO STUMBLE TWICE AGAINST THE SAME STONE IS A PROVERBIAL DISGRACE.

Getty inside and outside of business made sure only to make a mistake once never twice and see it as a lesson that needed to be learn.

FORCING A HABIT to Die rich PART 4

A healthy one that is. The main problem is not to let a habit control you but you to control it then you have at the reigns power.

Practices do become habit and the force of those habits can indeed be mighty.

For instance a healthy habit for a businessman to be optimistic and enthusiastic. It will make his own work better and easier and will also serve to hearten and inspire his associates and subordinates.

A habit is a habit therefore there should be no valid reason why it is any more difficult to from good ones than bad ones

HABIT OF TIME KEEPING

One either forms the good habit of being on time or forms the bad habit of being chronically late.

It is to any individuals advantage and best interests to be prompt whether it is in keeping an appointment paying a debt, meeting an obligation or keeping a promise of any kind.

TIME IS MONEY always

Businessmen have to run there workdays on the tightest schedules they can not afford to waste their productive time anymore than they can afford to have needless stoppages on the production line

The man who promises to be where he said he would be at the time he promised to be there is not only making an excellent impression, he is SAVING TIME and the thereby making more money for the himself and his business.

The businessman and firms most likely to succeed are those that fill their orders, deliver their merchandise provide their services pay their bills and meet their notes and other obligations on time.

Customers who are made to wait for delivery on their orders beyond the promised time are likely to place their next orders elsewhere.

HABIT OF BEING THRIFTY

Assume a man wants to start a business for himself he must have capital no matter what the business maybe.

He can borrow the full sum go into business with a worthy partner or take it from his own raised capital savings.

If the money is his own from the start the business is his own for life unless he parts ways or sales to stock holders.

A business run on borrowed money becomes the biggest profit reducer. A worthy partner will always take his percent no matter how the business was started.

A thrifty businessman will have an infinitely greater chance for success than another of equal ability who does not possess thrifty business skills.

A thrifty business man will instantly habitually know how to reduce cost of overheads and production costs eating away at the business.

In today’s highly competitive markets even minor savings can mean a great deal and even represent the difference between a net profit and a net LOSS.

A thrifty business man will know what to do at best during a slack period he will know how to preserve the businesses longevity.

A thrifty businessman has the best traits for expansion of a business.

A KEY business man habit is to be prompt with time and time keeping and is thrifty as best as possible to keep costs low but production high with respects to quality.

HABIT OF A LAST MINUTE PAUSE

The most valuable habits any business man can form is that of taking a  LAST MINUTE PAUSE.

LAST MINUTE PAUSE - to review a decision or a procedure or a deal.

Final check may require only a few seconds but could cost hundreds in the long run.

LAST MINUTE PAUSE - pays large dividends.

Its is priceless habit to arrange your thoughts in a logical order and to refresh the memory as to

WHY ?

HOW?

you arrived to that particular decision.

This simple procedure greatly increases the individual’s ability in instantly convincingly counter any objections that may arise.

It is in a way important to make this a habit.

Many of the greatest actors although they may know their role and part inside and out will nonetheless give the script or at least their lines a quick skimming over before the curtain or scene begins taking a second to breathe a last minute pause to focus.

A man, GETTY once knew would, before any big business deal said it was not his product that made the business, a success but infact his ‘last minute coffee’ and ‘shoe shine’ before negotiations.

It worked wonders because it gave him a chance to have a breather a mental spell to organise his thoughts before making decisions.

HABIT OF BEING RELAXED

Top athletes go into his sport always relaxed. This is a key aspect with any business man who wants to get ahead rapidly is to be relaxed.

The successful business man is always relaxed even in the face of adversity.

He is not lethargic but IS hundred percent PRESENT, RECEPTIVE, RESPONSIVE and always ready to grasp and exploit new opportunities and to understand and cope with new on going problems.

He is completely poised and never gets rigid and unyielding, in the face of the changing situations the business presents.

The seasoned successful businessman is relaxed in the game as much as a seasoned successful football player is.

MAKE SURE YOU CONSTANTLY HAVE TIME to take  DEEP BREATHE counting to 5 and release for 5!

It does indeed take years of experience but form the habit early on to breath deep, AND do not forget to be prompt and thrifty.

If you keep your wits about you can always swim to shore or find a piece of drift wood.

THINK OF a man being thrown over board of a sinking ship.

Always think you are a man who has just been flung overboard when it comes to business.

KEEP CALM  BREATH AND think your WAY OUT.

You must determine which business habits are beneficial to you and which are harmful This goes for your partner too.

Habits can make or break your business.

Think what are good habits a successful business man has and write them down and see if you can begin to incorporate them as a habit.

Look to seasoned successful people in all areas of life.

As for those business habits which are clearly good the astute businessman will strive to make them even more useful, advantageous and productive.

ALert for ways to cut costs

prompt

thrifty

determined

passionate

redouble his efforts

courage in the face of adversity

not feeling awkward

Waking up early

eating correctly

drinking lots of water

getting a good night sleep

The individual who want to reach the top must understand the practice of healthy productive habit making.
